What is salvation?
Trying to define
salvation is like trying to describe holiness. The bottom line is that Adonai
(the LORD) is Holy, and we are not. We are not because we cannot be him, and
Adonai has said about himself, "I am holy." Moreover, he also said, "I am
Adonai, and there is no other"... meaning, beside some other things, that he is
the only one who is holy. Yet Adonai said to the Jewish people, "Become holy...
just as I am holy." And, not only did he say, "Be holy," but he said it in the
plural. He wanted them to be many holies, or corporately holy, just as he is
singularly holy.
But how can you
become something that you are not? How can you become something that only Adonai
can be? Those two questions are what salvation is all about. Salvation is
another thing that is associated with Adonoi, and only Adonai can provide it to
you. When he does, he transfers to you an actual part of himself (the Holy
Spirit - Ruach Hakodesh), as a small but adequate portion of his own holiness,
and that new quality and substance has the power to produce holiness and
salvation within you.
He gave that
special property to Avrom, and that is why he changed his name to Avrahom
(Abraham). His new name had one of the letters of Adonai's Name. This is because
Adonai had given him new properties -- holy properties, and the extra letter in
his name reflects that change. Later, Adonai also changed Moshe (Moses). Yet
Moshe did not change his name, but his face shined... and that might have been
enough, but then he became the greatest prophet in Yisrael (Israel). He was the
greatest prophet, and he was the first person to actually hear Adonoi pronounce
the personal Name of God!
But everyone in
Yisrael could not be an Avrahom or Moshe. Nevertheless, everyone could become
holy, even though they were just ordinary people that never did anything famous,
and were never specifically talked about or written about. Nevertheless, though
they were obscure in Yisrael's history, they were all the children of God.
Adonai loved them, and gave them enough of himself to make them holy to
himself... and that "process" is the definition of salvation.
So salvation is
essentially a product of love and holiness. Love that has its own merit, and
love that is a property and quality of the singularly Holy God. And when that
love touches you, it changes you -- you become one of his Holies, and this
affection from God will produce salvation for you.
Yeshua was born for
that very purpose... to touch you and change you. And he has impacted
generations and nations (and absolutely countless families and individuals) for
over 2000 years. He is the Messiah, and he is the only one that can propagate so
much holiness. He can do it because Adonai ordained him to do so. Yeshua said
about himself, "I can only do what the Father has done within me." So Yeshua is
both the work and laborer of Adonai for our salvation.
Moreover, the
Messiah is the gateway (and connection) for all people (and not for only the
Jews), that all people may pray and worship God with an effectual link to Adonai
our Father. He is our "link and connection" because he is the "property and
substance" of the holiness that was given to Avrahom, Moshe, and countless
myriads that have trusted their lives to God. That is why the disciple John
(Yochanon) said that Yeshua is "the fullness of grace and truth" (chesed
wi-emeth) from our Father in the Heavens.
So if you have not
experienced the salvation provided through Yeshua (Jesus), or if you would like
to reaffirm your faith and live in a deeper Messianic knowledge of your savior,
then please read and respond to the following article: "How do I obtain
salvation?"
How do
I obtain
salvation?
Rav Shaul (Apostle
Paul) said (in Romans 10:8-13), "(referring to Deuteronomy 30:14) ‘The word
(Torah) is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart;’ that is, the word of
faith (and faithfulness), which we are preaching: that...
if you will confess with your
mouth the Lord Yeshua, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the
dead, you will be saved."
Please notice that Rav Shaul has made this
declaration as an application of Torah (Deuteronomy). Then he continues by
explaining... "For with the heart one believes, and it produces righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is made, and it results in salvation. For the
Scriptures say (quoting Isaiah 28:16), ‘Whoever believes in him will not
be disappointed.’ For there is no distinction between Yehudi (Jew) and Greek;
for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him."
Lastly, he adds...
"For (quoting Joel 2:32), ‘Whoever will call on the name of the Lord
will be saved.’"
Yeshua lived to affirm the Torah and to
complete its works. He spoke everything that the Father of Heaven and Earth had
revealed to him through the Torah. He labored with the Torah because he trusted
that it was the work of God, and Yeshua explained the following to his
disciples: Yeshua said (in John 14:10b), "The words that I say to you, I do
not speak on My own initiative, and the Father abiding in Me performs His
works, (meaning the declaration and performance of Torah, and its affirmation
through many miracles)." Yeshua also said (in John 14:21), "He who has
My commandments (the Word of Torah that he lived)
and keeps them, is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be
loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose (reveal)
Myself to him."
Therefore, if you
believe that our God exists, and that Yeshua was born to this world as the
Messiah sent by our Father in Heaven, then your belief will open your heart to
Torah and righteousness. And your public confession that Yeshua is the Messiah
of Israel will produce the affirmation of his salvation. Yeshua has assured you,
saying, "I will disclose (reveal) Myself to him," and Scripture supports you,
saying (in Isaiah 28:16), "Whoever believes in him (the Messiah) will not be
disappointed."
Therefore, begin the process of belief and
salvation now by saying this prayer...
"Our Father in
Heaven, may your Name be honored, and your will performed within me, as your
will is done in all the heavens. Your abundant labors have both made and
sustained my life, and I now desire to yield my living to you. Be merciful to me
for I have sinned and am a sinner, and I live among sinners like myself -- who
cannot attain for me what I am asking of only you -- please deliver me from our
temptations. Please open to me the splendor of your great dominion and power.
And grant my soul life and shalom through Yeshua the Messiah, whom you have
ordained as Heir and King of all your majesty and creation."
And now, after
committing your faith, you must be faithful...
Study the Gospels
and Torah. Learn how the Apostles applied Torah as a testimony of Yeshua.
Fellowship with those who acknowledge the leadership of the Messiah. Live with
tolerance, respect and compassion for your family, friends and acquaintances.
Also, start the process of conforming your life to the precepts and wisdoms of
Torah. Solicit the advice of your Elders in the Messiah Yeshua concerning how to
interpret the Scriptures, and how to deal with your personal issues. Then allow
the Ruach Hakodesh (Holy Spirit) to build and support all these qualities and
values into your life. Lastly, speak publicly of your belief and experience, and
you will be a child and servant of God. And you will have the affection of our
Father in Heaven, and His salvation will be effectual in your life... and within
this process, Yeshua the Messiah will reveal himself to you... and you will know
him.
Micah 5:1 "And you, O Bethlehem of Ephrath, Least among
the clans of Judah, From you one shall come forth To rule Israel for Me -- One
whose origin is from of old, From ancient times." Maron Etha, Adonai is
Returning.
Shalom to you...
from Yeshua our Messiah, and his servants in Torah.
Baruch Hashem (Blessed is the Holy Name).
